COUNTIF is extended version of COUNT function. In this example we have two elements to type.



In our example (picture 1.1) we have column described as age and at C2 there is value 18. This workbook is a list of party members. Now we can use COUNTIF formula to count for how many party members we have to buy beer (you have to be 18 or older).
When we use =COUNTIF(A1:A10, >=C2) in result we will have numbers of beers we have to buy (number of party members in age = 18 or older).

You can use simple =COUNT(A1:A10, C2) formula to see if there is someone who is 18.
